      Late Victorian era dictated enormous sleeves for women. I equate it with the rise of the Women’s Movement, it’s like they want peopleto finally “See Me”.

[This article](https://historicalsewing.com/sleeve-shifts-of-the-1890s) goes in depth about how ladies’ sleeves changed from year to year in the 1890s – not unlike the fashion trends of today! When I’m trying to date photos from the 1890s, I always check for the ladies’ sleeves first 🙂
