People in the past were allergic to gluten. We just didn’t know that was their problem.

I used to eat a lot of bread and pizza, but last year, from one day to the next, I started feeling dizzy and didn’t understand why. Then, when I gave up wheat products, everything got better. At first, I thought it was the milk.

There is a big difference between an allergy and an intolerance. And people have generally been smart enough for thousands of years to avoid shit that made them feel bad even if there wasn’t a word or condition associated with it.

My wife is allergic to gluten, and I’m 100% convinced it’s the new preservatives they use. When we travel to Europe, she can eat bread all day long and not feel it.

You can’t “die of cancer” if you never get diagnosed. I’m still gonna eat my bread, what’s gluten?

This is funny in a chill way because it casually points out how fast trends change without trying to sound preachy, and the bread visuals make the whole thing feel like a serious museum exhibit dedicated to carbs, which somehow makes the joke land even better.

…and people aren’t just mysteriously dropping dead all the time anymore. wonder if that has anything to do with increased knowledge of allergies and intolerances. probably unrelated though, as it makes a very uninteresting counterpoint to conspiracy theorists.

The gluten (and wheat) of then is not the same of now…wheat has changed a lot since then…not as wholesome and very contaminated with chemicals..the real culprit, some would say…

I can explain this either. The people died because people who had glupin intolerance and I do mean actual, like allergic reactions, allergies have existed forever, and they ate something well, they died. For example, kings and queens, who were allergic to certain things. They didn’t know what it was at a certain point. And then they basically said, you cannot have this.I think it was a french king or something who banned strawberries.Because he almost died while eating one

It’s not so black and white. Just to clarify, I haven’t double checked the facts, but I saw this video on YouTube that claimed that there if you grind the grain with old-school natural stone grinders, use whole wheat flour and natural yeast and no added chemicals, a lot of people with gluten intolerance have their symptoms completely go away and can eat bread with no problems. It might havea lot to do with modern mass production methods.

well, nature used to eliminate the weak very early on (40% ish of humans die before reaching the age of 10 in pre-vaccination eras). now the weak get to survive longer and we get to observe what new diseases they will develop /S

Or, allergic to Roundup and the chemicals used in the growing and harvesting the grains. Or perhaps allergic to the bromides used in processing the flour.
For anyone who does not have the gluten allergy in Europe. U.S. flower is stripped of nutrients and enriched nutritionally using folic acid. Folic acid is supposed to be a synthetic substitute for folate, but not everyone can break it down. Some people get adverse effects from this and thus you have “gluten allergy” in the U.S. and maybe some other places, but not in Europe.
The wheat has the nutrients. The flower does not. So Europe importing wheat does not affect this. They process it different there.
The point of stripping nutrients is to add shelf life to flower and bread. I think it comes from some war to save resources and we still have it. Like daylight savings time.

All the bread is made with GMO wheat in North America. Thank you Monsanto. Europeans don’t suffer to the same degree because Monsanto was banned.

Ancient civilizations survived plague, wars and invasion…but modern bread was the final boss apparently
5,000 years of growing wheat without any chemicals versus whatever crap they add to it now. but yeah, funny.
