I’d love to see the Coen Brothers take a crack at making their version of that story, like they did with True Grit. I think they’d be great at it.

    2. A brilliant film, that unfortunately can’t hide the fact that Scout is a girl like in the book.

Anyone know if the character in Sling Blade is based off of Boo? They have a lot of similarities.

    4. What a society impacting movie, pivotal and amazing – really had an impact on me forever imprinting what I saw as the south. Thanks for the memories Mr Duvall.

    5. This was shortly after they got attacked and Scout was rolling around on the sidewalk dressed like a ham. It’s a serious scene but I can’t help laughing.

Mary Badham, the girl who played Scout, grew up to be 6’1. She also stayed in contact with Gregory Peck, always calling him ‘Atticus’. He in turn called her ‘Scout’.

I read this book when I was 13. I saw the film slightly after. And it still gets awfully dusty in the room watching this ending scene to this day. Flawed novel through today’s lens, but damn is it ever a great ending!
