I'm in process of digitizing Polaroids that my mom found, and found this fun picture of my grandpa looking through the album I'm digitizing. He's a dark haired midwestern farmer with deep smile lines, wearing a button down summer shirt and cuffed jeans. It's probably 1959. He's 32 years old and holding a cigarette with this dominant hand. Behind him is a lush lawn. My mom was born the next fall, and she convinced him to quit smoking when she was young. "Daddy, if I can quit sucking my thumb, you can quit smoking." It shamed him and he never bought another pack.

So handsome! 💕
Very cool! Do you have the exact physical album he’s looking at in your possession? (Amazing if so!)
I also had a grandfather born in 1927 so this post really resonates. Thanks for sharing
Wow if only he could have seen into the future
i love that your mom got him to quit! kids will truly just say it like it is sometimes and make you see things in a different way; less complicated but somehow more wise.
Your uncle was Rock Hudson?
