Sound baffling to help dampen echoes and reverb. Smart idea, really.

As someone who dislikes cacophony this is a great idea

My guess is they are either a karaoke joint or do a lot of open mics.

It’s to dampen the vibrations of the farts

Hopefully they are charcoal filters too lol

These are sound dampening tiles. They’re used to make it so noise doesn’t reverb like crazy in an environment with minimal cloth textures. Normally it would be harder to carry on conversations without stuff like this, curtains, couches, or carpet.

Can the be adjusted to keep the rear guard orchestra in tune?

They probably have it under their tables, too. It’s a classic move for restaurants with noise issues.

I’m sittin’ on this barstool, fartin’ like a damned fool got the post-chili loose poops…

This kind of sound dampening is so effective but so ugly and gets so dusty, and is then super hard to dust.
This is brilliant. Nobody will see it there, it’s a hard surface that would reflect some sound, and it won’t get too dusty being on the underside.

Wow, someone actually thinking. Costs nothing and I love to see someone actually paying attention to details. Thinking just a little harder is what makes the difference. Always.

Is that for the farts?

This ia more common than you realize. At one time I was in the world of restaurant management (I’m not from that world…) and stapling carpet remnants to the bottom of chairs was commonplace to reduce the sound. A cheap solution to a common problem.

Add some charcoal filters for odors

As someone who has managed and worked in pro audio studios, every little bit helps more than you think. This plus under tables and a few on the ceiling can reduce reverb by a noticeable percent.

Does that help with farting?

I perform measurements and test materials and their applications in reverberation chambers and anechoic chambers. If the ridges are about an inch, and if they cover enough square footage in the volume of the room, it could aid in reducing higher-frequency reverberations in a hard-surfaced room.

So nobody can hear me fart
If would be perfect if they add some smell proof

Not soundproofing, but would help dampen the loud environment.

That sound ‘treatment’ is absolutely useless acoustically.
