Maybe it’s time for the Democratic Party to consider Leftists and Progressives as swing voters

    1. Reforming the democratic party primary process would go a long way toward getting better candidates for the general. Superdelegates exist solely to offset the people’s choices.

    2. Not going to vote for Harris because she’s not a perfect candidate and doesn’t completely back Palestine.

Meanwhile trump is posting videos about bulldozing Gaza and putting up giant golden statues of himself.

Both sides are definitely the same though

Leftists and progressives need to learn that general elections are a choice between two viable outcomes and act accordingly.

Every single person who claimed to sit out as part of “uncommitted” should be reminded that their decision supported worse conditions in Gaza and all the shit occurring here. But most i know that are steadfast in “Dems didnt EARN my vote” arent exactly exposed to the people they fucked over. Affluent people from very white neighborhoods that are just as well off with Trump, maybe better off because now they can be performatively outraged.

Leftists are already running on strawmen.

By the way, the EPA just stopped recognizing climate change. Carry on though.

    5. We can push for better candidates without handing power to Trump. Coalition politics means pressure and pragmatism, not purity tests.

    6. The reason democrats keep picking pro-Israel candidates is because they’d like to win the presidency.

The kinds of voters who matter for the national presidential election are heavily pro-Israel.  An anti-Israel candidate would lose by a larger degree than we’ve yet seen.

You should be allowed to demand more from the democratic party. People who act like we just have to accept voting for feckless corporatists are part of what got us here in the first place. Putting the blame on voters who refuse to compromise their morals is not helpful at all and only makes them want to vote for Dems less. And I’m saying this as someone who voted for Kamala but holy fuck did I hate doing it. She was a terrible candidate and anyone who doesn’t admit that is either not serious or deluding themselves. You can’t expect to win by virtue of not being AS bad as the other guy, you have to give people something to vote FOR not against. The progressive wing of the democratic party has real actionable and popular positions that the corporatist, centrist Dems refuse to acknowledge and until they stop kneecapping their own party they will continue to lose key elections like the last presidential election because people are tired of the same old same old. Even if they win the next election they will lose the one after that if they don’t give people something worth getting out to vote for like universal healthcare, and then we’ll be right back to the same fascism as we’re seeing right now. Sorry for the rant but seeing people repeatedly blame voters for the Democratic party’s cowardice and failings makes me very angry.

    8. The “leftists” in the meme are a-okay with Trump winning though. They proved it last election. They gave the genocide abroad their full support through inaction.

    9. If they can get somebody up to bat that they’ll actually get up off the couch and vote for who can also appeal to a broader base, I’m in.

I’m more moderate myself, zhoran isnt really my flavor but I agree with him enough and he clearly ran a good campaign that got peopleinvolved. Progressives need to get up to bat or support the ones that are.

    10. If you want immediate progress become a terrorist, the price of democracy is having to compromise on your ideals and having slower progress.

The idea that you will support a child molester if the other guy is a year old than him is insane

    12. I don’t believe op even votes. There is such low turn out by young and leftist voters that they make themselves irrelevant. No one is going to cater to you with turn out in the 20% area. And don’t try the “nominate better candidates” bs. It’s your civic duty to vote. Just because you don’t like who is running for president doesn’t give you an excuse to skip out on voting for School Board, City council, state rep. Auditor, Secretary of State………

Well yea… you spend the two years trying to get the person you want to win the primary. Then when the general election comes, you should vote for the not-fascist.

    14. hot take I’m sure, but how about the main purity test is that they’re not in the Republican party? 🤷‍♀️

like seriously, purity tests ain’t gonna help when the other side is organized af. gotta get it together or keep losing
