What’s the white counterpart to: “I’mma give you something to cry about!”

The fact that most of us read it with the tone and inflection 😅 means most of us heard it.

White parents are different nowadays cause I saw a white mom with a full white child at the grocery store and that little boy was acting a whole fool. I kid you not she grabbed his arm and said you keep it up and I will embarrass your ass in this store … I was shook and also impressed 😂😂😂😂

My white parents never once said “I’m sorry”

Now I will hit my kids with the “do it again” phrase but I absolutely apologize to my children. Part of my goal in raising them is for them to be adults who can have healthy relationships and take accountability. I have to model it and teach it to them first, and being able to apologize when you’re wrong is part of it.

“I brought you into this world and I’ll take you out” was some bullshit my mom pulled.

Heard the first one a lot, never “I’m sorry” no matter how much it was definitely needed and deserved.
I make sure to apologize to my kids when I fuck up. It stops with me.
But I definitely have told them “do it again” way more than to stop 💀🤣

As a POC, doing it the 1st time is not the lesson. It’s doing it a 2nd time down the line that makes it stick.

I’ll never forget that scene from The Boondocks where the white kid is throwing a tantrum in the store and Robert hands the mom a belt

I cant be the only white kid that grew up with a parent who kept a small stash of weapons to use on me for beatings. A hairbrush, belt, and small wooden racket. It hurt my soul because she took the racket from my own toys.

My wife and I said let’s raise our kids how we would have wanted to be raised. And we have to pull each other back in once in awhile from being too soft or too strict, but it’s refreshing. I’m American and she isn’t so it’s interesting how we both had crazy childhoods and cultures but we are still 100% trying to do it better. And anyone who thinks they have it nailed down is full of shit, but I’m glad we are all talking about it and trying.
