Was waiting for the elevator when a short-circuit forced the doors open and left the whole thing like this.

    1. Nah that’s not a short-circuit, that’s the building’s nervous system exposed

    2. Can you imagine someone waiting for the lift, distracted on their phone and just..
      walk into the shaft.

I feel like these days it’s a very real possibility in this situation.

    3. i would be more realieved than anything and reporting the shit out of that to Health and safety department of your local authority

    4. Elevator doors are opened by the car. The hall doors don’t have their own motors. If there is no car there, there is nothing to open the doors.

Just think about it from a cost perspective. Why would they pay to install motors on every single set of doors when they could just use one?

Have to call bullshit. Doors are not opened by anything a short circuit could trip. They’re mechanically opened by linkages with the elevator car.

These doors were forced open and it had nothing to do with the elevator car.

This photo was taken in a closed-down and/or condemned structure. That elevator has probably been where it is for years.

So you’re saying this building is open to the public and occupied, and you were there when these doors opened? Be honest, now.

    7. ooo good pic so i can post a question.

My apartment building’s elevator hasn’t been inspected since AUGUST and it’s wobbling and making a lot of noises. Everyone’s put in a request but still hasn’t been checked out.

is the only way to get it fixed if i fucking fall or get trapped? Only hoping for a large pay out if that happens.

    8. I’ve been in many an old building in Ontario, working in electrical rooms, and i’ll tell you, anything 40 years or older is a rat’s nest like that, or worse. They keep truckin on though, and a lot of it is low voltage, so it’s not too bad
