Nothing makes me feel ‘safer’ than giving my government ID to an app where the most common username is ‘ShadowReaper420’.

    2. So you haven’t actually read into it, have you?

      >As for ID documents uploaded to vendors, these are “deleted quickly — in most cases, immediately after age confirmation,” Discord said.

      >”We’re doing facial estimation. The ID is immediately deleted. We do not keep any information around like your name, the city that you live in, if you used a birth certificate or something else, any of that information.”

      >Discord will also use an age inference model to automatically assume a user’s age, based on their usage history.

    3. Time for everyone to use AI generated IDs of Ryan Gosling to bypass this shit

      Or just delete discord altogether

    4. Its not about age, its not about kids, its not about safety. Its about getting your data and selling it. Nobody gives a fuck about data breaches anymore because if its not being stolen its being sold. Age, kids, and safety are distractions.

Take a stand, go back to alternatives like skype and teamspeak.
otherwise it will jsut get worse

The age verification system for discord needs to be the same as vrchats where you have to turn your head to the side and show an ID to verify in real time and with that system, it also needs to have it where if someone is suspected of using ai or attempting to use images from a film or parents to verify, they will be asked for further verification to make sure things are secure. Overall, vrchat verification with extra steps or forcing people to go through a one time nitro payment to make sure things are secure and also it’ll help reduce the risk of scammers in my opinion because I am so tired of people messaging me on there trying to ask for commissions or something else

Not realizing there are already much easier ways to steal your identity.

    8. Every company now just wants your data all the time. Making us make accounts and shit, tracking every website we visit, making ads personalized to you based on what you search and what your purchase history is like.

They said they would delete it after verification, but Australia knows that was a fucking lie.

They will keep that shit, it WILL leak, and nothing will happen to them

    10. Didnt Discord back down from doing a whole NFT thing because everybody was cancelling their nitro subscriptions left and right? Why not just do it again? Have em start losing money and they’ll probably back down.

    11. The thing with discord doing this is i literally have no where else to go so im probably just gonna be foeced to do it and deal with the struggle it will be to communicate with people who are reasonable with there personal info

    12. They already have data leaks so frequent that they probably just sell what they have on a regular basis and just lie. Surely, giving them your ID will have no consequences.

    13. If you can’t afford to sue a company for lying, you should only provide information that you are comfortable with losing.

There is no recourse if they lie about their contract to not keep data if their pockets run deeper.

    14. Perfectly depicts the situation.

Because now after the “fix” not only is the leak still there, you now also have a hole in your hand for no reason.

    15. They’re really does need to be a way to verify age without giving up id or a face scan though.

(The face scan not allways gonna work BTW some 40 year old people look young as fuc)
