Japanese marathon runner Rei Iida showed incredible determination by crawling the final 300 meters after breaking her leg near the finish line, all to make sure her team could still compete.

I mean I understand sorta but isn’t that just making stuff worse for her? I wouldn’t want my team to not compete because of me but I also wouldn’t want my broken leg to get even worse conditions

That’s awful. You train so long to go there and represent your country, and something like that happens to you. Hope she recovers quickly so she can keep competing.

And famous footballers get “tapped” by an elbow and fall to the floor like they’ve been shot

      Not a marathon.

      This is a relay.

Her team needs her to cross the line. She’s not thinking of herself.

So despite her coach trying to communicate to stop, she’s not getting that message – only how many more metres to the hand off so she doesn’t let her teammates down.

I’m sorry, but this is just is so wrong on so many levels. Don’t care if you’re in a competition. No one should ever feel the need to push themselves on a broken leg.
