    2. This actually really smart way of bringing in customers – it plays on the factor that 1/5 people will potentially buy another drink.

Usually the margins are quite high on beer – so even if they sell another 2 extra drinks, they’d most likely cover for the other 4 free drinks given out. I know a coffee shop that does that exact same thing – most people go there for long works to work from the coffee shop, 1 free coffee + 1 paid is more than enough for them to make a profit.

Cost of a cup of coffee vs the retail price is I N S A N E. So even with just 1 cup, they make a killing.

    3. I stayed at a hotel in Munich that did the same thing. If you opted out of daily room cleaning service you got a free beer each day.

    4. Damn, i never knew Tuborg had a stout… in my country they only get a limited edition during winter for a brown beer called Tuborg Christmas Brew…

Went shopping, got a free pint while browsing, they had a tap behind the counter. Best shopping I ever did.

    6. Technically you order enough during happy hour you get free stuff so it’s just a way to get people in. One beer isn’t gonna get anyone drunk.

My local restaurant switched to a donation model (food is free, donate if you can) during the ICE occupation and they’ve never been busier, I figure they are making way more doing it like this…

    8. Isn’t beer usually rather expensive over there? I went to Oslo back in 2009 and even then a cheap pint was about $10 USD

The closest thing I have to that is a bar that gives free hot dogs with any beer purchase. And the beers are cheap for the area, too.

    10. I remember visiting a bar in Brussels back in 2013 that heavily advertised having a 1 € beer. When we eventually got there it was this super tiny beer that was also a radler which was like 1%, refreshing but not what we were looking for

    11. This is a thing to get you drinking, well have one beer, then another, then another. Next thing you know you have had 6, and getting very tipsy if not drunk and they made a good profit

    12. The last thing you want is an empty bar. If you bring people in early for free pints, likely others will come and kick it if they work something not 9-5.
