      The most garbage aspect of Mardi Gras. People thinking that they have any claim to a fucking spot on a public street and being inhumane towards anyone who dares to stand near them. This shit is in Bossier City. As you can clearly see, you aren’t fucking lacking in standing room. There’s like forty people out there.       New Orleanian here. I know a fringe redneck parade when I see one. My guess is this was at the Krewe of Push Mow in Abita Springs. These people do not represent Orleans or Mardi Gras at all.

      The number one thing I’ve always loved about living here is the inclusiveness and hospitality that is inherent in almost everything that we do. So when I see stuff like this I know it’s a bunch of up jumped sister kissers from the Florida parishes.

      The motto of New Orleans has always been *Get in where you fit in.* If this was a real Mardi Gras parade, it would be packed asses to elbows and that Karen Cooter Jr. Wouldn’t be saying boo about her 12 sq ft of sidewalk. I don’t know where or when this insanely privileged idea emerged of saving spaces before the parade begins, but I’m going to go ahead and let you know right now that’s not and has never been a thing. You can go spray paint your name on the grass. Throw down a tarp and leave your lawn chairs out there if you want to get those stolen. But don’t for one hot second, think that you’re going to arrive 5 minutes before the parade rolls and take your place in some private Opera box.

      The only reason she was able to talk out the side of her neck like that was because she was in the Caucasian Haven of the Northshore. But if she brought that noise down here to Central City she would have got corrected and I mean fast.

      And on a further point, elderly black women are one of this country’s most valuable citizenry and they must be protected at all cost. I’m telling you right now I would RIDE AND DIE for any black woman that calls me Sugar/Honey/Sweetheart
