I hate when YouTube pre buffers the entire 1 minute add even though they know damn well I’m hitting skip the microsecond I can

    2. Ads on YouTube and Reddit and other sites (if there are any) load faster because they’re short, predictable, and make money, so they’re aggressively preloaded and cached on ultra-optimized servers close to users. They’re pre-encoded at fixed qualities, avoiding adaptive streaming delays. Regular videos are larger, customized, and use adaptive bitrate streaming, which takes time to negotiate. If ads buffer, advertisers complain. If your video buffers, you wait… Sorry ‘wait’ is a word we used to work before culture ADHD took over, nowadays you click or scroll to something else, or try to solve the issue by reloading the page again and again while looking at another screen until it magically works.
