Didn’t we have a vote on either German or English and chose English? I’d like to imagine if we chose German, it’d be like France and Canada with their colloquial differences and our swears would be vulgar but Germany has stronger insulting name variants or something.

New Meexico existed before the land of Mexico existed. The Spanish opened up much of the lands to Eurkpean exploration. English came late, a d didnt do as .such expansion as the Dutch and French did. Germans were the greatest of the immigration though. Mote German ancestry in the USA than English and even Spanish.
