I used to go to this gas station with the best fucking shawarma. The owner, Mr. Sa’id, would make them himself.
Unfortunately, he went back to Pakistan. Not because of ICE, this was back in 2017. The new owner told me Mr. Sa’id’s mother was having health problems, so he had to go back to take care of her.
The new guy’s shawarma was mid as hell, and I stopped going there for my shawarma. If ICE tried to take Sa’id away I would have thrown hands, I’d kill for more of that man’s shawarma.
Now I live in a part of the United States where the shawarma is dogshit and my heart yearns for good Middle Eastern food.
