Is this the thing where he said that he would open one of their locks in court? I thought that was really cool when I heard about it.

The whole lawsuit was a wild ride. In the end the company asked the judge to pretty much seal the whole thing from public record.
At one point the defending attorney basically asked if the company had considered improving their product instead of suing over hurt feelings. They clearly messed up.

Looks like a valid lock opening to me

The bandage on his finger added to the realism of a video from a guy using strips of thin metal as a tool.

I love how the 2 minute runtime of this video includes:
– Getting the package out of the drop box.
– Unboxing and verifying that the provided key actually works with the lock.
– Drinking an entire can of sparkling water.
– making a lockpicking tool.
– and THEN picking the lock.
Arguably, the most impressive thing was chugging the water.

Researching locks and chains for my fancy new e-bike, I found all consumer grade locks are vulnerable to these kinds of attacks.
The best you can do is get one that requires specialized burglar tools or advanced lock-picking knowhow to open, and can’t be cut with bolt cutters or hand tools. So most thieves will move on to an easier target.
I chose to get a motorcycle chain you would need an angle grinder to cut through, and a u-lock that can’t be picked except with a specialized tool, though commonly available at most hardware stores, most thieves are unlikely to be carrying.
A professional burglar can get anything open

I think it’s fake because who chugs an entire seltzer water one go and doesn’t have an absolutely monstrous burp at the end. No jury needed obv fake.

It’s always funny how he makes the original video, the subject of the video decides to discredit him as a fraud or whatever, and then he stitches it over another video of him doing it again often in even more absurd ways.
You figure they’d learn by now.

Man, this company was so dumb. If he was just interested in making himself look good, he would have used something other than liquid death for the can.

What’s the camera setup? I’ve seen first person set ups where the camera is on a chin strap in parkour videos but this can’t be that because you can see him drink the can. It’s not just on his hat bill because it looks up and down when he does

Here’s the problem for the lock company…
Say you take him to court, he’s just going to do this in front of the judge and then you’re fucked.
You know you’ve lost. Why bother when you can issue a statement that you’re going to.improve the design based upon the flaws shown?
Humility and willingness to respond in earnest to criticism typically look pretty good to the consumer.
