In tech, current documentation is just a fancy way of saying “this was true for five minutes in 2022..

LMAO, programming docs are like a meme about aging—they’re old the moment they’re written! 🤣

Oh that textbook *was* outdated until like 10 years ago, since we are now making the same mistakes as X years ago; meaning it has become relevant again…

And then the school says they’re extending the programming textbook because they don’t want to switch it out next year.

Historians: this textbook was written 2000 years ago and it a great source you can have. of course, The author is biased, but still, if you can think critically and have aecheological research, it is a best we have

Pro-tip: the documentation isn’t obsolete if you document the changes you make. 😉

When I started coding my websites required changes before I even finish them because NextJS kept issuing changes.
I remember back in the early ’00s we used to use programming textbooks as monitor stands because it would be out of date within a year anyway.
I used a 3D Studio MAX textbook for years as a monitor stand after it outlived its 6 months or so of usefulness.
EDIT: Nice to see 3DS MAX still going after all these years. $3065 per year for me or $9195 for 3 years, which is… $3065 per year. Thanks for the loyalty discount, Autodesk!

I don’t know about other countries but I remember my maths text book in Grade 8 being obsolete halfway into our school year because the department of education decided that a method used in the text book must be changed to another (we get marks not only on the correct answer but the method used) I don’t remember which method it was just I remember getting a small stack of badly printed papers with the new method on it
