    1. “I hanged those ten Nazis … and I am proud of it … I wasn’t nervous. … A fellow can’t afford to have nerves in this business. … I want to put in a good word for those G.I.s who helped me … they all did swell. … I am trying to get [them] a promotion. … The way I look at this hanging job, somebody has to do it. I got into it kind of by accident, years ago in the States.” John C. Woods

    2. He lied about having prior experience and botched several of the hangings; the British executioner Pierrepointe was embarrassed to be associated with him. That said, he was hanging nazis so…eh? 🤷‍♂️

      >While changing a lightbulb and standing in a pool of water, Woods was accidentally electrocuted on July 21, 1950 and buried in Toronto Township Cemetery, Toronto, Kansas.

reading the wiki page of one of the Nazis executed during Nuremberg, Wilhelm Keitel. The trap door was too small and Keitel (along with several others) sustained head injuries from the trap door when they dropped (image on his wiki page). he fell with insufficient force to snap his neck and died over 24 minutes
