Ya know it’s wild to me, but in reality a lot of Republicans and even MAGA Republicans do actually give back and do a ton of charity work. They’re super big into things like Toys for Tots, Angel Tree, Christian ran shelters, Christian ran businesses that donate to charities, they are huge donors towards fund raising for the homeless, and of course they give to and support their church outreach. I’ve seen tons of them do work for free for people like home repairs and car repairs. They also tend to be very involved in after disaster work, like hurricane relief and clean up. Then there’s the ever present fund raising for the poor in other countries. I think it’s crazy how generous they can be and yet how self centered and hateful they can be at the same time. The irony of decades of raising funds for other countries while also stripping away supports for people in their own country. IMO it all comes down to control. They want to control the narrative around the charity, and if the government is doing the heavy lifting then they don’t have that control.
