    2. My husband keeps fretting about the cats running for the door right now. “They’re gonna go out!! Careful!”

      I lock eyes with him, door completely wide open and let the cats go past me into the ice and snow on parts of our stoop. They slowly step out, immediately look up at me, screm, and run back inside. “No, hun, I’m not worried about them running outside.”

      Poke — oh no, too cold and wet. Maybe if I step here? Poke — nope! Poke — nope! Poke — what even! Poke — I give up, the decks gone bad somehow. I guess I’ll use the litter box.

    4. Outdoor domesticated cats are a plague on local wildlife and ecosystems. They kill for sport and decimate bird populations in particular along with spreading disease.
