When Charles I had his head chopped off on this day in 1649 he requested he be given an extra vest before going outside to the execution scaffold, he wanted to make sure that he didn’t shiver from the cold (people may mistake it as fear) – this is the vest he supposedly wore. (746×939)

Supposedly, he vomited on his way to his execution, and those are the stains on the front.
