Some countries, such as Paraguay and Guatemala, still recognize Taiwan.

Eh a bit of a simplification. It’s more like if there was a communist revolution in the US and the government fled to Hawaii or Alaska and then said government stopped really trying to claim to be the US and instead wanted to make an independent identity for themselves but internationally can’t really do that (oh also there’s an oppressed indigenous population that only slowly gained more rights recently).

That’s the thing about communist; you tell them “no,” they want it more.

This is the most smooth-brained thing I have ever read regardless of anyones opinion on China or communism. Imagine if a densely populated and strategically important section of literally any country on earth was claimed by a faction who rivals the legitimacy of that country’s power. That country would say “oh fuck, this is really bad” and try to consolidate power.

Remember back a few decades, Taiwan had what? 1/20 the population but 1/3 the GDP?
So humiliating for the CCP.

If any of you were from nations who bordered ROC, you would say fuck Taiwan.

I was talking to some Chinese nationals on an AMA just regular people, seemingly open minded….the second Taiwan is mentioned they straight up turned into die hard party members

Most amusing off all is Taiwan isn’t even related to the “unequal treaties” China harps about. Or more recently, not harping enough about. Hong Kong, Macau, and even Taiwan are pure chump change compared to losses the size of Outer Manchuria.

Taiwan is actually the remnants of China’s government pre-communist revolution. The communists HATE that they survived and managed to thrive despite doing everything they can to cripple Taiwan. Taiwan is basically a testament to why their regime is flawed.

Except they both claim to be the one China and both have claims to each others territory so not really no.

“You have yours”. Not true.
The constitution of ROC claims that the mainland China is part of ROC but taken by CPC. The two regimes are still in civil war by law.

Same could be said about the Soviets snatching Mongolia from China in 1924, which was a significantly bigger loss of territory

More it is they lost and still go “im actually china” and havent yet gone “well, now were the republic of Formosa with no claims to chinese mainland”. The US gave up on the silliness why theres like 3 embassies or some shit over and none of them are american and libtards have to cope with going “well its basically the same” not understanding its most of the world saying “yeah no, we know its bullshit and its not a real country.”

Pretty sure both fought tooth and nail for china, and only recently have Taiwan wanted to be known as Taiwan, and not china

Not really, they both claim ownership of both pieces of land

Also Taiwan: Surely I started two civil wars to kill you, lobbied Americans to nuke you, raided your civilian ships for decades but don’t you dare do the same!
