I have friend who’s a policeman. He went on vacation in another state. He got pulled over for speeding and got a ticket. I don’t recall how the cop issuing the ticket found out my friend was also a cop, but when he did he asked, “Why didn’t you tell me you were police?”
“Because I did something wrong and got caught. I’m not above the law.” was his answer.
He told me that he could have easily not gotten out of the ticket, but his kids were in the car and he’d see himself as a shitty father if he taught them that it’s OK to duck your punishment. In fact it was his son saying “Dad got a ticket” that initiated the conversation.
There are good police. Pretty sure none of them are working for ICE. They’d have to look in the mirror and that would be all they need to prompt them to find honorable work.
