    1. Where does it say they just think of chess as another game on their phone? It could be only on your phone, but you still consider it to be a special game for various reasons, eg history, depth of competition.

    2. There could be plenty of people who play over the board at school/uni, chess club, other places but don’t have a board at home.

    3. I went to a chess meetup after playing online for a while and it took me wayyyyy too long to set up the board!!

    4. You cannot say at all that people who don’t have a chess board “consider chess just another game on their phone”. That wasn’t part of the question, you cannot infer emotional meaning or sentiment from a simple factual question about the ownership of a physical object.

    5. I didn’t own a physical board until I was 1500. I still took it very seriously and never considered it a video game.
