    1. Pet deaths can hurt every bit as much as other deaths

There was actually study put on reddit the other day showing that a significant number of people who experienced both around the same time found the pet harder to recover from

    2. It’s been 6 years since I lost my first dog, still can’t bring myself to throw out his collar.

    3. Most posts here end up with “talk to a medical professional” and this one is no different. I hope they have access to high quality mental healthcare.

    4. My little brother (21yo) called me crying when our family dog passed away. That was the first and only time I heard him cry. She was the rock in our family. Dogs are so genuine and good hearted, you can almost justify human death because humans even if good have at some point in life hurt someone or done something not considered good, dogs are pure.

    5. Stuff like this makes me wonder if I’m ok. I have had pets my whole life but one has never hit me this hard. Even when it was an unexpected death.

    6. that makes me feel sad. after my dog died i couldnt even bring myself to look at the spot we buried him in the yard. i even refused to see his body after be passed when i was asked if i wanted to say a last goodbye. i was a wreck and starting a new job the following day.

    7. Lost my cat a little over a year ago and not a single day goes by that I don’t think of him. People that don’t have pets act like it’s just an animal or how can you care so much but they play such a pivotal role in people’s lives.
