In 1991, Romanian farmer Vasile Gorgos went missing during a routine trip. 30 yrs later, at age 93, he suddenly returned home wearing the same clothes and carrying the same train ticket. In good health but with no memory of where he’d been, he only said he’d been “home” all along.

People will believe anything these days
My guess is that his prison for the mentally incapacitated closed. Lots of weird stories like this pre digital record keeping i’m sure.
