Except they covered the “pay” hole on the rich parrots side so the only thing it could do was pass them over to the poor parrot. Going to guess there’s more to the experiment but the video doesn’t show it

The issue isn’t a lack of empathy, it’s learned narcissism. The first village was started by one family who graciously fed those around them and whose generosity was reciprocated through the suberviance of those new people. When people are given something they want to give back and suddenly that family is doing less and less work because of the thankfulness of their neighbours. As generations move forward that family becomes more and more accustomed to their freedom and forget what led to that worship which leads to an inbred superiority complex. Hierarchies are inevitable and will always begin with generosity, it’s just in our nature.
