Regarding comments about her happiness: This series of photographs was taken by Milton Greene. Greene was a confidant around whom she could be herself. Most likely suffering from bipolar disorder, happiness for Marilyn was always fleeting throughout her career… a voracious reader, and a student of Lee Strasberg’s, society would not accept Marilyn for who she really was
