      It makes me a little uneasy that a non-zero number of those utter failure students go on to become engineers. 😂

    2. In a science class back in highschool we were making bridges out of pop cycle sticks and hot glue. The teacher used books to test each bridge. He kept adding a book till it broke or was about to break. Mine ended up holding a kid and didn’t break. This was back in like 2003

      It really doesn’t matter if all the builders can pay an “inspection exemption fee” like in Hatay. The amount of midnight foundation pours I have seen to avoid government oversight is fucking shocking.

    4. I was going to say “best not to be too fancy”, but some of the designs that failed were also basic, just like how in real life what saves a building from a quake can run deeper than the facade.

    5. I know nothing about engineering but it looks like one of the most rewarding professions. Designing something and seeing it work must feel amazing.
