This post is based on u/TeachMeImWilling69 ‘s one on gun designs. Sometimes the past isn’t a different country anymore.

    2. Bauhaus really is disgusting but I never had such a warped sense of architecture.. probably due to the way I grew up.. I see immediate difference between a building that’s several hundred years old, just around a hundred.. a few decades.. or even some few very modern designs.

I didn’t grow up with architects but artists and general artistical vagabonds.. well mostly my grandparents.. and have always been interested in art, design and history.

Even my simple little Saarbücken has so many beautiful buildings. From the Ludwigskirche and Saarbrücker Schloss to the now empty French Embassy.. oh and nice trivia like the tunnels under a river which they build during the napoleonic era or even before in order for nobility to have an emergency exit. (From their Schloss/Palace/Castle to the market place)

    3. Regardless of how you feel about the architecture itself, posts like this one and the gun post it is based on really hammer home how much technological and cultural change has slowed in recent years.

I mean, compare today to 1980, and then compare, say, 1950 to 1904. It’s really shocking how little our lived environment, political factions, etc. have changed. And the biggest change that has happened is a single invention (smartphones).
