Democrats advised not to center midterm campaigns on attacking Trump

    1. The news media is complicit, they are bought and paid for propaganda for the GOP and right wing.

    2. The Democratic message needs to be on the economy for working class people: rising housing costs, the softening job market, and tariffs. Voters have shown for the past 10 years they don’t care about the Trump circus, so yes, I agree. 100% of the messaging should be about the economy. That’s what voters care about.

    3. It’s probably best to center your campaigns on yourself and what you’d like to represent. Being likable is also very important.

Don’t try to be the “vote for me because I’m not him” candidate, but instead “vote for me because you like me, support me, and think I’d be an excellent representation of our country”.

I think the “vote for me because I’m not him” strategy has proven to he an abysmal failure.

So without context that probably looks bad.

But let’s be real. When they center their platform around Trump bad, without showing how to make things better or without providing a popular alternative. People aren’t going to listen.

Just like what happened with the Harris campaign. 🤷🏽‍♂️

So focus on HOW they plan to make things better, a real executable plan. Not some pie in the sky pipe dream.

    5. Good. The Democrats being on the defensive for the last decade hasn’t helped the American people. While millions of Americans were facing price gouging and an insane increase in the cost of living, the Harris campaign was “we’ll continue the status quo”.

Americans are clearly not happy with their government and are desperate for change. The democrats will fall miserably if they don’t campaign on true reform to benefit everyday Americans.

    6. I would advise the Democrats running in the midterm to focus on exactly the opposite of what Schumer and Jeffries recommend to focus on.

When are we going to collectively acknowledge that this is a controlled opposition party?

    8. They shouldn’t. They need to focus on the economy, jobs, and affordability. Keep hammering on those points.

No matter what, I fully expect “The Dems dont have any plans except TRUMP BAD” no matter what campaign Dems run.

    10. You could be concise and mature with your questions, then blindside him with hard stuff he can’t answer.

    11. They have to build up this galleon figure early as now. Don’t wait too long, because Trump (yes he will run a 3rd time) will have been in the news for 13 years.

My gut instinct is that how is how they might win and then let us down if they attack trump, so instead they need to find the right balance of plausible denibility so they can claimed they tried while still being a controlled opposition. So many things have happened in the last few years to convince me that the democrats are intentionally useless and make bank off it.

I mean I agree that democrats who only justify their run because they’re not trump is a bad strategy

    14. Why not? Trump’s entire political career is blaming Democrats and that has worked very well for him.

That makes sense, tbh. I’m not USAian, but, if I understand the midterm elections correctly, they aren’t running against Trump.

    16. It speaks for itself. I think everyone knows maga sucks. We need to know what you’re going to do to fix this. There needs to be a swathe of arrests and accountability for the crime spree they’re committing. This can’t be swept under the rug.

We need justice and a return to order. We just witnessed an aggressive attempt to Nazify the USA. This should be treated as an enemy threat that infiltrated our government. Bring the hardest possible charges on espionage, corruption, unconstitutionality, whatever the fuck (IANAL). We need to see that whoever takes over the mantle will commit the next years to cleaning up the mess these fuckers left behind and to ensure they pay for their crimes and traitorous actions

    17. Understandable to some extent, but something to consider is that half your country had a choice between feckless, uninteresting, and wishy-washy, but competent…. and full-on insane, utterly incompetent, racist, misogynist, and felonious. And they chose the latter.

Why if a group has to choose between being the guy punching them in the dick, and the guy that does nothing about the dick punching, and they choose the guy doing the punching… would changing the branding help?

The choice is still getting punched in the dick, or not…

    18. At this point just reporting on Trumps policies and own words would be an attack.

Are they advocating that they lie?

Voters vote with their wallet. If you can make things more affordable then they will win. No one wants to live in the hot hell humidity of Texas, it’s just more affordable (but property and utilities are extremely expensive there)

    20. The Republicans have boiled every single criticism of Trump down to “Orange man bad” and spam it nonstop.

It’s been proven time and time again that people don’t give a fuck about how bad Trump is, or even if they mostly don’t like him, they think the media is out to get him.

Focus on what needs to be fixed and how you can fix it, never get into an insult/dirt-slinging battle with Trump because he’ll win Every. Single. Time.

    21. Let’s agree with everything he’s done and say “fundamentally, nothing will change if you elect us”. That should rally the voters. After all, Trump won all his elections by avoiding attacking or criticizing his opponents, just like most other presidents

    22. I would agree. There’s nobody remaining out there who is going to be swayed by just talking about how much Trump sucks. Everyone has heard everything there possibly is to say. People need to hear about the real issues and what is going to be done to make much needed changes.

Here’s a radical idea, follow Mandani, Sanders and AOC’s lead and maybe talk with your constituents and ask them what they want then do those things?

Do use consultants and donors to gather information, be of the people and for the people

    24. They need to go on the offense and let Trump defend himself. 2024 was just Biden defending wild claims about immigrants eating pets.

    25. They should each focus on what is most important for their district. The attacks on Trump should be made by the Democratic party as a whole. Put out national ads to encourage voting and stress exactly what is at stake.

How ‘bout they stand up for American principles for once…
and make campaign finance a back burner

    27. Democrats must be more than a “hate trump” party. We need them to stand for something.

And we need to know what they are going to stand for NOW, because last election when we trusted them to do that they chose to make transgender politics the front and center issue. We can all see the election results and how America reacted to that.

    28. I would focus on solutions to the problems the republicans have created or made worse. Starting wars is absolutely a topic and is a good point for discussing the reduction in the defense budget.

    29. OMG!!! If the midterms (if they happen) aren’t a landslide in favor of the democrats, then I would call that proof of election fraud and point the finger at Elon and his techbros.
