No it is not true. Although no such announcement is required under Article 5 as all members of NATO are already obligated to respond to an attack on any member. If they failed to act then it turned out the NATO charter isn’t worth the paper it is written on. Wouldn’t be the first time a treaty turned out to be worthless (cough cough Budapest Memorandum).
Of course everyone involved already knows all this. NATO would never come out and say it though what would be point beyond trying to get into a dick measuring content with a lunatic. Everyone except the orange tyrant is just hoping the manbaby gets bored with his nonsensical greenland rants and moves onto other topics.

Maybe if all the European countries had been carrying their weight to provide for their own freakin’ defense for the past 60+ years, the US would feel like losing NATO would be something that would be missed. At this point, NATO is feeling more like a gym membership we never use.
Still, we really don’t have any claim to Greenland and should STFU and leave it alone.
