She should win. It’s not her fault she’s a paying customer and shouldn’t have to move bc of someone else’s problem.

Guilting other passengers to give up the seat they paid for these days is some serious bullshit!

    3. Dangerous_Ad5039 on

There’s also like 60+ window seats on the plane why is she the only one being asked to move? Because she got unlucky sitting next to the annoying people?

    4. I hope she wins too. If the parents of the crying child wanted the child to have a window seat, they should’ve paid for it. Like she did.

What’s the saying now? Improper planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part?

And before someone @’s me over the crying child: I don’t care why your kid is crying. That’s not my problem. It’s YOUR kid. YOU work it out. Just leave me out of it.

    5. Someone else’s poor planning doesn’t constitute inconveniencing me.

Most times I wouldn’t mind giving up my seat, but if I am in a situation where I do, I expect my decision to be respected.

      Agreed.

Your crying child isn’t my problem. Want to be assured of sitting with your family? Book it that way.

I find it hard to believe she faced backlash for not moving from her paid seats. Not saying she didn’t just find it hard to believe. Most of the time when this situation goes viral people support the person refusing to give up what they’ve rightfully paid for.

Eh – I’m for the Brazilian woman not moving for a child but I’ve seen enough Karen videos where they shriek “I don’t consent to being filmed!” to also think she doesn’t have a case.

No expectation of privacy in public. You act how you act, if someone films it and it winds up reflecting badly, thems the breaks.

Genuinely surprised people got upset at her. It’s her seat and it sounds like the kid desperately needs to learn a valuable life lesson in not getting what you want. If anything she’s helping the kid!

Why in tf does she have to move seats she paid for? If your child can’t handle being on a flight then don’t bring them on.

I have no dog in this race but if this was in the states you have no privacy in public.

The whole child thing she probably will win because she paid for that seat.

I don’t mind giving up my seat, even if I’ve paid for it, to a child but not if the parents feel entitled to it. There is no chance in that case.

    13. it should be up to her good will and no one should force her, I hope she wins a lot of money now

    14. Sue the airline out of existence. This BS has to end. I pay for a seat, I will sit on the seat I paid for. It’s the airline staff’s duty to fulfill their end of the contract.

I don’t remember there being backlash against her. Most people were mad at the person recording, if I remember correctly. But this was completely out of line. Leave the woman alone.

    16. Even if she wins, she became a reasonably well known influencer and is going to show up in an upcoming movie here in Brazil lmao

    17. In Brazil, courts often side with personal dignity over casual public filming if there is reputational harm. The act of filming her without consent, and its viral spread, could be seen as a violation of privacy.

    18. Other children are not our responsibility *unless* they are in danger and need protecting.

You have no moral obligation to accomodate other people.

If the mother really wanted that seat she should have offered to pay the price difference but the person being asked still has the right to refuse.

To add to this: others could have offered their window seats instead if giving that kid a window seat was so incredibly important.

I think I read in another post about this, that the kid actually already had a window seat but wanted her window seat.

    20. SpikeTown7373 on

she paid for it. if she wants to give it up, thats her choice. If she doesn’t, thats her choice. Period!

This is such an old article. It happened in 2024 but I’m not sure on the outcome though

    22. No_ImNotMixed on

She faced widespread backlash? I didn’t read all the comments on this thread alone, but who actually agrees with the passenger who recorded her?

    23. Good for her. I am so tired of listening to entitled people whine about airplane seating. If it was so important to be able to sit by your kid, you should have booked your seats together. Stop guilting others for your lack of planning.

    24. Yet you are still posting her picture, getting her even more media attention, (one of) the thing(s) she doesn’t want ….
