As someone who remembers the before and after situations, I can attest that the quality of living in that part of the city has improved massively since the construction of that tunnel.

The US infrastructure is crumbling, meanwhile countries and Germany invest. Well done.
I hope Germany figures out solution to energy, and realizing clean nuclear or other alternatives will be needed.

I wish they would do this in so many Mediterranean countries, and just hope for the future that we give more priority to local nature’s beauty and humans enjoying that, rather than saving 2min of traffic, or the convenience to park everywhere. Just makes these places so much more livable.
Actually I’m from around Düsseldorf, and when I’m traveling around I just notice so many times that absolutely beautiful sea side areas have a massive road next to it.
And I mean in densely populated areas, not in the middle of nowhere.
Just been around Lisbon area again this xmas and same around there, also last year in Rio was same actually.

There’s a difference between Dusseldorf and Düsseldorf, at least if you ask someone from somewhere else than Cologne

Seattle just finished their downtown waterfront connectivity project. It’s been going on for a couple years and it looks way better. It also connects downtown to the waterfront and just made everything more walkable and enjoyable.
