I did an intense week-long coding sprint at the beginning of December to bring a legacy codebase into a more modern state.
Each coloured block represents the total lines of code committed within a single hour.
Important context: this is not 72 hours of net-new coding. The sprint consolidated months of prior work. During that week I merged and cherry-picked changes from multiple long-lived branches into main, which is why some hours show commits touching up to 31k lines — that’s obviously not humanly possible to write in a week (at least not for me).
What this visual really shows is when integration and consolidation happened, not raw typing speed.
I found it an interesting way to reflect on how intense development work actually clusters in time.
