Women, nymphs, and even explicitly erotic motifs were part of the repertoire of Hindu temple architecture and design. The woman stands in the typical, almost exaggerated Tribhanga pose, resembling an S-curve, which corresponds to contrapposto in Western art. This graceful pose is very popular in Indian performing and visual arts.
