In June 2023, during a heatwave in London with temperatures exceeding 30°C (86°F), several soldiers collapsed during the Colonel’s Review, which was inspected by Prince William.

Yeah the other guard being carried off in the background seemed like a wtf comedy moment. I was waiting for the camera to zoom out to see these were the last standing troops playing with everybody else passed out.

    3. So buddy getting carried out, while they’re running to get other buddy on the floor. 🫡

    4. Don’t start playing again. You’ve already disgrased your king. We’ll just walk you off.

Imagine having such a pointless job – protecting such a worthless family – and taking it so seriously.

When i took my military oath bunch of people passed out because you stand still for such a long time not moving so all the blood goes to your feet. There is tricks like puckering your butthole to encourage blood flow, but still bunch of people passed out and there was squads thats job was to drag them to shade and give them water.

    7. Man.. this is a human being, downed, and you don’t react for what ? “Tradition” ? That’s a shame

I’ve passed out standing in formation before back in air cadets as a kiddo. They had to put me on oxygen apparently my oxygen level was low. Standing perfectly still for long periods is not good for you

I think making people do this in this weather in these uniforms is cruelty from the crown- but im not british maybe i dont get it. Its not like the US is sunshine and rainbows over here.

I find it funny they’ll make them wear those outfits in ninety degree weather, but don’t make them memorize the music they have to play.

I really wanted to see him get back into the groove and start playing while he’s on the ground. Maybe some Raygun style moves.

This reminded me of how long it’s been since I’ve seen an episode of Benny Hill. I kept waiting for the band to start playing Yakety Sax and then the medics chase the trombone player around with the stretcher.

    13. A small detail that’s wild to me is that the guard that checks the instrument for the medic actually gives him his cornet and takes the “fallen” guard’s trombone. They dont exactly play the same, so to me it’s a buit wild that the guy can play both, and had the sense to know that the trombone part would be more essential for the rest of concert or what it was.

Ofc it’s also a bit insane that two men goes down due to heat and mad traditions. I am Danish, and I do believe we have similar bearskin hats, so there is that 🙂

    14. It’s kinda baffling that the Royals insist it carries on while people in need of medical assistance collapse and are ignored while the performance continues.

OK how is this NOT a python skit. Seriously this is the most ridiculously British thing I’ve seen in a while.
