It’s not America’s fault that their oil keeps ending up under other countries!

Yeah, America sucks! Those other world hegemons were much better. Like the Soviet Union, the British, the Spanish, the Ottomans, the Mongols…none of them ever did anything wrong like wage pointless wars or commit any genocides or anything…

Yes, next time they should make a movie about how much fun they had there.

Empire and imperialism is evil.
However, you need to be able to separate the fact that most US soldiers have been desperately poor boys, often forced into war against their will, usually quite young.
That isnt always the case, but regardless, we need to be able to engage in empathy.
The only path forward is to love one another, speak honestly, and forgive. Healing isn’t easy, but we have to do the hard work to make the world a better place.
Sometimes the hard work is letting people burdened with the guilt of their wrongdoing speak their truth. It can teach others not to follow in their footsteps. How else are we supposed to act? Let them be useless and not teach others to not follow their example?

Yes yes, we’ve all seen that Naked Gun-esque twitter clip with the sniper and the 3 generations of people picking up the gun. It’s hilariously stupid, but this joke has been made a gazillion times before in the past 6 hours.

America didn’t invade Vietnam. It was assisting South Vietnam against the northern invasion

I agree with the point of this meme, but to be fair, a notable amount of US soldiers are indoctrinated from sometimes as early as 6 years old, and don’t realize that they were raised to be the bad guys until it’s to late.
I’ve grown to hate American Sniper since I experienced a deployment myself, and just military life in general.
I don’t know, maybe I’m just trying to make myself feel better…
