I think it’s fascinating how quickly people gave up on experiencing anything.

    2. Just watch the ball drop…for fuck sakes why does everything need to be filmed.

“Dude, you should have BEEN there!” ….seriously tho, has anyone watched fireworks on a screen and thought they were cool?

    4. I truly miss when I could watch concerts instead a sea of people blocking the view of everyone behind them for a video they will never watch.

Dude could just enjoy the show but instead wants to keep looking at his screen…

I went to Barcelona for New Years last year. The ball dropped and of thousands upon thousands, NO ONE was kissing, moving, hugging or celebrating. It was all drones on phones.
      It was terrifying!

Videos of fireworks have always screamed to me “I want you to know that my life is interesting, and this is proof that I go places and do things”.

    7. I don’t understand why so many people record stuff like this. How often are you going to go back and re-watch this shit? Never? I figured as much.

Why don’t people just rewatch last years fireworks videos they made instead of even going out.

    9. Disgusting. Maybe take A picture to jog your memory later. But not whatever this is.

Edit. If the phone isn’t working then let it go and just rely on your eyes and ears, or if those don’t work so well, a professional HD recording after the fact.

    10. I’ll never understand ppl recording stuff like this. No one they go to show will ever wanna watch

    11. Fwiw, that looks like a Zenfone 2 (or the 2L variant) which debuted 10 years ago. This came out around the time of iPhone 6 and was in the ballpark of $300 USD iirc. This video is not of this year (the firework patterns/lights on Taipei 101 do not match).

    12. Personally laughing at the guy recording this guy. Least the other guy isn’t missing it being distracted by someone

    13. I get everyone saying you should live the moment. But for an old person, I think they would want to rewatch it later or show their grand kids. I know for a fact older Asian people love to show their families who live far away.

I can’t even imagine being at something like this and thinking that I need to film it haha. Just makes absolutely no sense to me.

Phones are crap too. It’s just a picture/video with sound, but none of it is as good or full as what you actually experienced.

Most of the coolest things I’ve seen over the years I remember because I stood there for like 10 mins just taking everything in. The visuals all around, the sound, the smell. Even like picking up a rock or a bit of dirt or whatever while taking in a landscape helps complete and then cement these things in my head in a way a phone can never hope to match.

    15. I had a friend who was notorious for choosing the wrong tech. Not only that but he was militant and obnoxious about how much better this thing was. Bought blackberry instead of iPhone. Zune instead of iPad. Said Bluetooth was a fad. HD-DVD early adopter over Blu-ray. We won’t even get into his choice of video games, but it was always just whatever scam/shovelware ripoff thing. Spore comes to mind.

I’m sure he’s rocking an asus phone now.

I had a phone that took so long to turn on that once I press the power button, and I was able to go take a shit and come back and it was still turning on!

Later on it broke in away where I had to hold a lighter to the back of the phone for it to turn on. I kid you not. It only booted when the back of the phone was really hot.

    17. I always laugh at people who film fireworks. Like, are you really going to rewatch that? It’s never as good.
