Washingtinonian and (former) long time Kennedy Center subscriber here. There was nothing wrong either the building before. They had just done a large expansion of the campus in the last 5 years, and had recently renovated some of the exhibition spaces. The idea that KenCen was “crumbling” and was subject to neglect is a complete fabrication.
