    1. I remember a guy like this is Iraq. He came from northern Iraq for a job interview on base. Nice suit, blonde, blue eyed. We thought he was a contractor. Turns out his Dad was British and Mom was Iraqi. Grew up in Iraq. But these 2 in Trashcanistan I’d bet were Russian defectors. It isn’t unheard of from the old war with the soviets.

    2. I heard the blue eyes in Afghanistan come from Hellenistic colonization post Alexander the Great’s conquests, don’t quote me on that though

    3. This is awesome! Nuristani Kalash Kafirs! People who legend says were descendants of the armies of Alexander the Great who remained in isolated valleys of Nuristan. And the modern results…

[Here is a map of Alexander the Great’s army’s invasions in the area](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_the_Great#/media/File:AlexanderConquestsInIndia.jpg) in the 4th century BC.

When I drove from Islamabad to Beijing, [I met a guy in isolated Northern Pakistan valleys who is Pakistani Kalash](https://i.imgur.com/GH6ng1T.jpg), a people related to the Nuristan Kalash Kafirs, but separated by more than a millennia from the Nuristani Kalash Kafirs (I had to take a pic, they’re legendary). Those in Pakistan are also said to be descended from the armies of Alexander the Great, hence pretty much visually [blond haired, blue eyed European Caucasians, in remote valleys of Central Asia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalash_people) for 2400 years.

    4. So, Anthony Michael Hall moved to Afghanistan with his cat and then adopted Marcus Mumford as his son. What a time to be alive.

I heard from u/Tzahi12345 that blue eyes in Afghanistan come from Hellenistic colonization post Alexander the Great’s conquests.

    6. Possibly finnish ancestry, as a lot of finns were sold into slavery by Russia during the Great Wrath and probably before and after also.

The dad resembles Thor’s son on Ghosts, while his son looks like he’s known for roles on Call The Midwife, Narnia and Skins.

    8. The old guy’s clothes actually look good quality and well pressed too. Presumably they’re well to do locals.

    9. Yazidis from N Afghanistan they are light skinned and blue eyes are common speak Aramaic one of the oldest languages on earth

In addition to this Russian DNA, I wonder how much American (etc) DNA got left behind after the … um, forgive me … pullout?
