    A U.S. Marine raises the Confederate battle flag over Shuri Castle. The Marine was from the self-styled “Rebel Company” (Company A of the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines). Deemed inappropriate, the flag, which was visible for miles, was taken down after three days (Okinawa, 1945) [1403 x 1104].
