    1. I went to the doctor for heart palpitations at the beginning of last year. Doctor said they wanted to get a scan or heart eco? I don’t know, I’m *not a doctor*. Schedule the appointment with the heart professional; five months away is the soonest they could see me.

I called around and most others are around that.. at least in my network. The day before my appointment I received a call from my insurance saying they weren’t going to cover the cost of my appointment because they deemed it unnecessary because I didn’t have a history of heart problems.

I still have this problem but I can’t afford the cost, so I just deal with it now and hope I’ll be okay.

No one outside of America thinks you guys are free.

You need Universal Health Care ASAP. Literally 40% of you are morbidly obese, it’s mad,

    3. Trump supporters hate the idea of their money going towards other people, even if it means that if they start doing so then they will need to spend a lot less money on other expenses.

I genuinely didn’t realise that Americans had to pay for the services _as well as_ insurance; I’ve consumed enough US-orientated media to know that getting insurance companies to actually pay out can be a struggle but the fact that you pay more in taxes _and_ insurance **and** the actual service itself is absolutely baffling.

    5. *paying 20% of your paycheque and you may still end up in medical bankruptcy if the ambulance takes you to an out of network hospital or decides that the care you need doesn’t look good on a balance sheet. You will still incur out of pocket costs, or just not get the care you need.

Here we are in the socialized medical system, not giving a flying fuck about whether the doctor, test, or treatment is covered. They generally, just are. Maybe medication is out of pocket, however if it is too cost prohibitive, where I am from – there is a government program to cover that cost too.

So, for 4% we can see any doctors we want, We can get any test our doctors deem necessary. We don’t worry about if we can afford it, we don’t worry about if our treatment is approved. We just get treatment. We also get preventative care. There is no worry about co-pay if we want a check up. We can just make an appointment. We will get blood drawn, pee in a cup, EKG and after a certain age, some slightly more invasive tests booked. The only cost we will complain about – parking. I assure you, we will complain loudly about the $20 in parking fees we for the 90 minutes it took to get a mammogram.

What America has is not a healthcare system. It’s a business framework that profits from healthcare. The sicker society is the more they profit.
