Best response to someone who thinks it’s weird to like them (or at least WWII), is to say “yea I enjoy learning about how the Nazis got fucking wrecked. Why, you don’t?”

One may say: I love WWI-WWII, especially anti-imperialism or something like that

I never look down on people for liking WW2. There’s so much more to history and things I wish people knew more about. But WW2 was kind of a big deal, and there’s a lot to look into there. Same as the Roman Empire, I see nothing basic about it I’m glad it gets attention.Â
It is too bad about the neo-Nazis. I’m not a left-winger myself but it’s mind numbing to see the mental gymnastics and outright bullshit achieved by Nazi/Nazi sympathetic revisionists. You can have an adult and unemotional conversation about the Germans without veering into “wrong side won” or “history is written by the victors” idiocy, but evidently a lot of people can’t.Â

Ww2 especially is bonkers from a tech standpoint. We went from glorified biplanes to jet fighters and rockets that touched the edge of space in like 6 years

Question, is a Neolith fan still a “history” buff?

I mean you’d still get looks depending on how deep folks go, at least for Cold War era… Napoleonic gives me personal concern. History enjoyment ain’t a horoscope.

My favorite area of study is churches in Nazi Germany. Somehow, discussions of Nazi influence in social institutions is a safe zone, probably because those who study such things tend to be very open about how bad it is.

While I didn’t enjoy the bloodshed, it was nice to see racism and xenophobia get stomped.
We have forgotten our history. The very flags we see flying are the same ones we fought to rip down and tear up. The same ideals people love to spread now are the ones that we sent millions to defeat.
We were a nation of honor. Pride. Freedom. But now we have fallen for the propaganda of one orange wannabe Mussolini.

I’m a huge fan of the resistance movements. I’m a fan of anyone who uses dirty tactics and tricks to eliminate Nazis. Speaking of which, if y’all haven’t heard of Max Manus, that dude was a complete badass.
Not all right winder are Nazis, what are you smoking. Same with lefties and communists.

Cold War also isn’t fun, because you either are talking with tankies who glorify any communist leader(yes even pol pot) or imperialists who think people like kissinger were right in their actions.
But atleast you do all the nuclear weapons and spying, so it’s worth it.

Wtf dude? I lean right and love WWII history. Are only communists and left-wingers allowed to enjoy history?

Yeah, liking the tech side doesn’t mean liking the ideology.

Tbh I haven’t known anyone find a fascination about the world wars to be weird, especially WW1. The world wars are a gateway subject for a lot of people to get into history, as were the Romans et al. I’m sure most historians/history fans hold a soft spot for that period of history, even if they aren’t experts in that field.

Wow I can’t believe we have some prange turd supporters in the chat imagine supporting a literal Nazi using Homeland security as his gestapo
Nice bait post though it really shows us their true colors

You guys ever thought about how the history books will portray the era we are living in? I’m sure the right Wingers will have their kids studying from home so they can indoctrinate them and force them to know their history and not what really happened
