No doubt the MDs on reddit will be diagnosing you with a terminal disease.

Interesting.
There’s one finger of mine that I shut a car door on a good few years ago.
The nail came off but grew back and it’s partially deformed, with a part of the nail being thicker/tougher than the rest.Â

That looks bad. Get to the hospital OP. You may die soon.
If you can’t tell, this is satire.

I’m not a doctor, but I had one put a finger in my ass. From my experience, don’t go drinking with Doctors.

A few years ago I injured one of my fingers, the nail went all dark before falling off a few days later. Was another nail under it and has been fine ever since lol.

#It means that finger is gay.
Let it.

My middle finger. The top layer, thin, got separated in my youth. Never been able to link it back up.

I’ve noticed sometimes that my nails have two layers, the thick hard layer and then under that a thinner, still definitely hard but thin enough to be flexible layer, THEN the nail bed below that. I wonder if this is the same thing but your layers are just weird or if you’ve got something truly weird going on?

I don’t think this mutation is good enough to be part of the Xmen.

Has it always been like that? Mine split like that for a while but I could eventually pull out the lower thinner layer.

my toenail does this after getting shot with a puck in a hockey game and breaking it

This is a very rare condition called Twonail. It signifies great charisma and sexual prowess

I used to work in a factory where plastic bags were made, the static buildup would get so bad the discharge would actually separate the layers of my nails. Could be the same type of thing?
