“Blood bitters” refer to traditional herbal tinctures, like Burdock Blood Bitters, used historically for “blood purification” and digestion, containing ingredients like burdock root, yellow dock, and dandelion, often marketed to women for “female complaints”.

I wonder if the illustration has any particular meaning relating to the item being sold or is just meant to be visually striking and interesting for its own sake?
