This is powerful. Why aren’t more countries following Bhutan’s example.

    2. Bhutan really out here absorbing more CO2 than it emits and just ignoring half the world, Absolute legend.

    3. Bullshit. They maybe don’t have representation in many countries but it is not like they pretend those countries don’t exist.

Be like Buhtan is still a good motto tho

    4. Ah yes be like Bhutan – the country that chased out roughly a quarter of its population in the 90s through forced expulsions of the Lhotshampa, mass denationalization, and ethnic cleansing. Very cool.

    5. Bhutan’s GDP is probably like $4,500 and like 5% the population of Cleveland. It’s easy to have no carbon emissions when you have no population or economy.

    6. Bhutan has a powerful backer in the name of India who is desperate to keep a allied buffer between it and China.

India maintains Bhutan’s road , gives it aid , develops hydropower infrastructure (Bhutan primarily exports electricity to India) and basically protects Bhutan militarily (in 2017 Indian and Chinese troops were engaged in a serious standoff where China attempted to encorach on Bhutanese land).

India also trains Bhutanese military and sometimes police too.

Majority of nations aren’t in this position.

Also the part of Bhutan not recognising those countries is false , Bhutan simply does not maintain diplomatic ties with those countries and instead relies on India

    7. Look, I’ve seen the pics and I wanna go there. It looks absolutely breathtaking.

Having said, the majority of carbon emission is probably from people breathing.

    8. I mean… in reddit I trust 🫡 im all for exploring south-east Asia. Bhutan sounds like a radical opposition to the current state of things, globally… and im all for it. Who else wants to visit Bhutan? …cuz I wanna go now, late 2026 is my slow season for work…

    10. Don’t recognize them doesn’t save us. From post ww2 to now the US been screwing our world, now it’s chinas turn and China is gonna screw up the world like maybe zed fking up Mr Wallace in pulp fiction, because China is pure dictatorship

    11. Bhutan is not the only carbon negative country. Basically any country with a lot of forest are carbon negative.

    12. Bruh can we stop glazing Bhutan and act like it’s some utopia? If you read into the history of it the county literally displaced its citizens and I know of people that had to seek asylum in Nepal because of the displacement.
