    1. Would it be cool if they house the homeless in places that were already built, and let people use kitchen spaces that are unused to cook for them

    2. They should repurpose malls as like indoor recreational centers, botanical gardens, art installations etc. and you just pay an admission at the door.

    3. Starting to look like mine. I feel so bad for the younger generations that they won’t ever know the joy of hanging out there, shopping, etc. There’s something so dead about staring at a screen buying everything from Amazon and never getting out in the world. Plus where the fvck are kids working?

    4. The mall in my town is filled with very expensive stores, and is super busy. You can’t find parking there unless you valet.  We have a lot of rich old people in the area though.

    5. Some of those old malls look like such nice buildings…

until you go into the closed off sections and see the stunning amount of mold and rot.

Reminds me of Ridgmar Mall in Fort Worth, TX. They have one restaurant in their food court. I’m positive that if the Rave Movie Theater would close and reopen somewhere else, it would kill that mall.

What blows my mind about dying malls is that they’ll just keep raising the rent on the spaces

    8. The only mall with a food court nearest to me is a 45 minutes drive. I can get Sbarros there so it’s worth it but yeah…no malls nearby. Nobody wants to leave the house anymore (me included)

Yeah Brookfield Square is really rough these days. It’s too bad, I have so many memories going there with family as a kid, it’s hard to see the malls you grew up in fall to their death. The last restaurant in the food court closed just a few weeks ago and I think the rest of the mall will soon close with it.

I have a hard time even being there anyways because it smells like rotting feces in many of the corridors from what I can only assume are burst or rusted out pipes, and they don’t even turn the heat on in many areas, which is miserable in a Wisconsin winter.

    10. I definitely recognize that. Brookfield Square Mall, Brookfield, WI. Their last food court tenant just moved out in the last month or so.

    11. I live near Seattle. It is December 24, 2025. The malls here overflow with the zombie hordes. Yesterday, we had to go out for supplies. 9 of us left, only 2 returned. I am now deaf in both ears and its not looking good.

But I am optimistic. I saw Santa in the mall and our eyes connected for the briefest of moments and I knew. I KNEW.

I just knew that I was going to enjoy that book I bought from the Barnes and Noble.

    12. Landlord: Oh geez, businesses are leaving due to high rent and decreasing foot traffic. Better raise rent to make up for losses.

    13. Malls are making a huge comeback where I live in Quebec, Canada. The mall near me is jammed every day with music and mini trains going around and everything, just like when I was a kid.

    14. As I have gotten older I hate the malls are closing. Being able to get out when its cold and walk is super nice.

Private investors bought ours on the cheap years ago and are letting it go so they can use it as a loss. 😓 hopefully one day that amazing and huge riverfront property can have something worth visiting.

    16. So crazy. Mall by me could not be busier. Just added a huge parking garage so they can get more people there.

    17. This was my childhood mall – had 1-2 places open when I last went back. Feels bad to see it like this

    18. I guess it really depends on the area. My town’s mall is so packed right now that you can’t even find a parking spot.

Great now convert it into a pop-up market or farmers market so people can still use the space
