    1. We have our own Maple MAGA to deal with here. We dodged a bullet last election, but conservatives don’t go away. The ideals of democracy need to be continually fought for. That, and billionaires shouldn’t exist.

We did lose in 1812. Thats why Canada still exists. We repelled the Brittish invasion, but Canada repelled our invasion, and pushed us all the way back to DC, and burned down our capital.

    3. other countries are what they are in part because of america. to fairly make this kind of statement, you’d need to unravel the massive influence america has had on other countries. would we even recognize a uk that had re-taken its american colonies in 1812?

Except losing access to a lot of North American resources was part of the end of the British Empire. It’s entirely possible that it would have lasted even longer and not reformed.

    5. in the words of the philosopher-king, “the roof, the roof is on fire, let that mother fucker burn”.

    6. America had its chance to get universal healthcare in 2016 and 2020 but called the candidate who campaigned on it “unelectable”.

    7. Here’s a thought experiment for you. Imagine Obama lost in 2008. World better or worse today?

8 years of John McCain. During that time the Dems flip the house, tea party movement never forms. Republican party remains sane. Trump never gets offended by Obama at the WHCD, stays on the Apprentice. After 8 years in 2016, An older, greyer Obama comes to power, John McCain retires and spends his final years peacefully at home. After 8 years of McCain, and no compromised Trump as POTUS, Russia toes the line and never gets confident enough to look at Crimea in 2014 or the rest of Ukraine in 2022. Trump, without the power of the White House to protect him, gets swept up along with Epstein and Maxwell

    8. They better not tax my tea! Everything else is fine tho…

      No house. Ok.
      No savings. Ok
      No health. Ok.

But don’t you touch mah TEA!

    9. You did loose in 1812. Canada just wasn’t a country, and Britain didn’t have any interest in taking you back.

    10. Let us not forget that this is one of two wars we fought over US boats and ships. The English were boarding US merchant ships and impressing American sailors into the Royal Navy. The other was Pearl Harbor. Blowing up other countries boats is an act of war.

    11. The US did lose in 1812. The US wanted to conquer Canada but was defeated so they begged for a treaty.
