That’s just one example of true leadership and character: calm, informed decision making with the help of people who are experts and not merely entourage.
But most of all we had hope that we could become something better. We knew that a country is not marked by power but by how it treats the least fortunate of its people.
That was a long time ago when that big statue in my city’s harbor meant something.

The GOP likes having billionaires shove their faces into the mud.
They don’t mind. They just fantasize about how great it would feel if they were rich enough to shove someone else’s face into some mud.
